The internet is a great place, it holds vast amounts of information. One of the best things is the new ItunesU. You can learn anything from starting a farming business, to learning the ins and outs of Photoshop, to learning all you could possibly need to know about marketing. iTunesU makes it fairly easy to learn new information. Which makes me wonder why in the world of the internet and the openness that this gives you does anyone spend money on college. All it gives you is a piece of paper. Editing Station Image Spots Just Got Easier

A lot of times you will be editing a promo that needs show clips, and you know you remember watching a promo with the exact phrase you need. But you don’t know which episode # or anything else about the show. I introduce to you you Hulu’s Caption Search

Hulu’s new Captions Search, makes it super easy to find show clips that have the exact phrases that are in your script. Making editing image spots with show clips, or topical promo’s a whole hell of a lot easier.

To use the service go to That’s Funny

All you do is replace That’s Funny with the phrase you are looking for. I normally go by most popular of all time, but I do work for a FOX affiliate. If you work for CBS, or NBC, you may have problems that way. Maybe they should add a sort option for “crappiest” or “for old people” Just Joking.

Google TV is coming to a home near you

Google TV is coming to a home near you, and personally I believe it will revolutionize the way we watch tv. Many times, I find myself wanting to show my spouse a video I had seen on YouTube, and am too lazy to pick up the laptop to show her. So, I just send her an e-mail that she never get’s to. There are so many good things Google has brought to the world, albeit there are also some complete bombs, but I believe that if the entry point is cost effective for more americans than apple’s iTV. Google’s TV, or GTV as I’m calling it, will make the worlds tv experience change.

Not sure if they would have been better off writing an app for a DVR, which would have been a large improvement to any DVR. But we’ll see how this plays out for an already withering Local Broadcast market share. Hopefully I still have a job after the launch. What do you think about GTV (Google TV) and where do you think the world of TV is going?

I’ve been on stage before, and I know that it is difficult to see past the end of the stage, but this is too funny. There has to be something someone can do to make this better for stars…. Maybe a million dollar idea?

Directory Maximizer

Recently I used Directory Maximizer to submit my site to multiple directories. I’m amazed that to submit to 200 sites, it cost me less than 20 dollars. I’m still not sure about the results with SEO, but it can only be better than I had. Plus, I didn’t have to go through and set up any of the form submissions on 20o sites on my own. DropBox File Transfer Service

The DropBox file upload and transfer service is a really cool way to do online video, and photo sharing with friends and customers. It lets you have a folder on your desktop (Mac, or PC) and when you put files into the folder. It automagically updates your online account and any other computers you have connected to the account. It is an awesome tool, especially for WordPress users. Try the dropbox wp plugin to have all your images hosted on the Dropbox servers. leaving your file count, and server use to a minimum.

WestHost Sucks A$$

After using Bluehost for about two years now, I never knew how good it was. I’ve been helping out the YCFB with their website, which is hosted on westhost, and their back end control panel is from the 80′s. Their support is horrible, and their file manager is the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

UPDATE

As you can see by the comments below, I didn’t get anything resolved with Westhost, and their idiotic customer support. I since have sent another e-mail requesting the use of their new cPanel account. Now even though there is an upgrade to their new customers in the software that they use. Their customer support is horrid. I have never seen anything so bad, and would never refer anyone to their services.

So, use any other hosting service, bluehost has been good to me with support that I have counted on day or night. With chat that is quick, and easy. They also have easy to use GUI interfaces with Help Videos that answer almost any question you need answered. I have not used any other hosting service besides the two. If you find any host that is better, or if you have any advice on other host’s don’t be afraid to share.

Google Fiberfi 1gig per second initiative

Yuma AZ would be a perfect test ground for Google’s FiberFi initiative. They are asking for people to nominate their towns to be considered for 1 gig per second internet, which is light years away from what anyone in town offers currently. So tell you friends, neighbors, and workmates to go to the above link to submit Yuma. It is a great opportunity, and I believe it would be a great help to our community in bringing businesses to use our skilled services and low cost of employees.

Google Voice Has Problems

So about three months ago, I got an invitation to use google voice. I signed up with excitement of another Google product that seemed to be to good to be true. Well, welcome to Google Voice Hell. Not only is there no real way to get a hold of google unless you are buying ads. The forms that they ask you to fill out in their google help is crap, and probably goes to some big trash bin on an old server that nobody ever checks.

See, after setting up the google voice account with their number, I set up my cell phone to use google voice as an answering machine instead of the crappy sprint number. In my excitement to get it all set up. I didn’t even get to test the number until it was all done. Once I did, I found out that it said, this number is no longer in service, and cannot be completed as dialed, depending on the phone that I use to call it. Making my sprint phone # re-direct to this message every time I missed the call. Sure, I know that it is a beta product, and still has some bugs. There is no excuse for not fixing it in over three months. Especially when I have been filling out forms about once a week to let them know that there was a problem. I can send text’s just fine, but I cannot receive calls. Nor can I use any of the cool features of the VM that it was designed for. I’ve already turned off my sprint phone connection, but I would love to be able to try out the service with a working number.
