A lot of times you will be editing a promo that needs show clips, and you know you remember watching a promo with the exact phrase you need. But you don’t know which episode # or anything else about the show. I introduce to you you Hulu’s Caption Search

Hulu’s new Captions Search, makes it super easy to find show clips that have the exact phrases that are in your script. Making editing image spots with show clips, or topical promo’s a whole hell of a lot easier.

To use the service go to That’s Funny

All you do is replace That’s Funny with the phrase you are looking for. I normally go by most popular of all time, but I do work for a FOX affiliate. If you work for CBS, or NBC, you may have problems that way. Maybe they should add a sort option for “crappiest” or “for old people” Just Joking.

Not too long ago, Dominoes pizza was the worst pizza in town. They had flavorless bread, Sauce, and toppings. Man, I hate it when Pepperoni isn’t the slightest bit spicy. But they guaranteed pizza in 30min or less. And that is why people ate pizza from there. It was fast.

When I saw the commercials for their brand new recipe, I thought that they might have been doing badly, and had taken out even more flavor to cut cost’s. Then I saw that they had a contest to take a picture of their pizza, and you could win $500. Since I have a camera, and know how to use it. I decided that I would give it a try.

We went to Dominos.com and placed an order online. Then we watched the cool new pizza tracker. Which is very cool. It even tells you the drivers name, and what time he left the store.

After taking some awesome pictures, I took a bite of the first slice….. and was amazed that there was any flavor at all. In my local area. There is a Round Table, a Little Caesars, Pizza Hut, Peter Piper, and last but not least Chuck E Cheese. All of which I would have preferred before Dominos at any time in the past. My favorite Pepperoni-Sausage-Mushroom Pizza from any pizza shop was in this order: Round Table, Pizza Hut, Peter Piper then whatever else I could get. Domino’s wasn’t even on the list before. Now I’d say Dominos is at the top of the list. Mainly because of the price. Round Table is better pizza, but they are too proud of it. at $15 for a large…. it makes Domino’s $9.99 large better.

The only complaint I had for domino’s is there sauce was very limited. There wasn’t much at all. If they doubled the amount, They would blow away the competition. I’m going to have to ask for double sauce next time.

So I suggest you try the new Domino’s Pizza. Go to Dominos.com now, and get yours delivered today.

For the longest time, I was scared to have a child because I thought that if the kid didn’t come out okay, I wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Now that I have a seemingly completely normal baby boy, I wonder what I did right to deserve a child so beautiful. In some ways I’m not quite sure if I deserve it or not.

After much personal debate, I suppose that I’m not that bad of a guy, or maybe my thoughts are worse than my actions.

So I wonder how bad his actions will be, and worse yet, his thoughts. I’m truly in love with this little guy more than I ever really knew or expected. And even though he is less than a week old, he is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

If it is said that the war on the Taliban/Al Qaeda has since moved to Pakistan, why are we still in Afghanistan?

Sure, some would say that leaving without fixing their country to be a normal place, would make them even more mad at us. But then, what are we going to do when we get to Pakistan, re-construct their country also?

There has to be an end in sight, and there has to be some sort of way to leave.

I know that American Pop-Culture has made people only believe in winners, or losers, but there is a middle ground, isn’t there?

Maybe because we are still Imperialists, but we are spending money we don’t have, on a country that will inevitably use that money against us in the end. Just like they did after we bought Taliban the AK-47′s in the 90′s as part of a peacekeeping mission.

There is no way to make a clean getaway, and Obama’s advisers won’t let him call it a loss after dumping more troops into the shit last Dec.

So then, why not just apologize now to Afghanistan’s people, and tell them: we never meant to hurt your people. We were only here to find & eradicate the Taliban/Al Qaeda. Now that we have scared them off to Pakistan….. We will let you be.

Of course, you will need some sort of presence in the country to monitor the return of possible terrorist’s. They will only show their face again if we leave.

Personally, I believe that the people of Afghanistan would be more understanding if we were honest with them.

We never were there to police their streets, we are there to get Osama Bid Laden, and the 9/11 jabronies.

Same goes for Iraq, what the F are we still wasting tax dollars on. Why are we still in Iraq? History has shown that no government will emerge while they are dependent on our help.

Think about having a teenager leave the house when they turn 18. If you are supporting their every need. The only way they are going to find a job, and leave the house, is if a better deal comes along…. (for me it was sex) Who is going to provide that for Iraq, Iran?

Leave both countries, it will be the equivalent of kicking the teenager out….. They will land on their feet on their own. Giving them the option to Sink or Swim is the only way to go.

Sorry it took me so long to get to Gen. McChrystal, but after reading the rolling stone article. The only thing that he really needs, is to move on to Pakistan. He is obviously a man of action, and needs to be near the shit.

But, he really needs to get some sleep. Eat a hearty steak, (I guess he really has that now that he was sacked) and figure out wtf is up with getting the real bad guy. If he was the ring leader in rounding up all the terrorist cells in Iraq, why wouldn’t you give him some sort of bonus for capturing Osama, dead or alive.

Incentive… The only thing that is going to get anyone to do it is some sort of incentive. Sounds to me, that if you give McChrystal and his inner circle a couple predator drones, three months of supplies, a million dollars, a cherry coke, and an all expenses paid cruise on the Cougar Cruise. He would kill Osama Bin Laden within three days.

Least that’s a thought.

The New WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious” is here. This site has been updated, and it was relatively easy. In the header of your dashboard you should see an upgrade now button. Once you click on the link, it will start the process. It actually was very simple and easy to perform. Even when I added the multisite capability. Not that I would use it for this site. Well without using some sort of domain masking for the other sites I own. Which actually is a good idea now that I think about it.

To add multisite capabilities add the line

define(‘WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE’, true)

to the config.php file on your server. Once you complete that and re-load your dashboard, and you will be prompted to add the superadmin section. Just follow the steps that WP 3.0 has made simple to complete. Then you will be ready to discover a whole new WP…

If a new to the web game guy like me can get this accomplished, you shouldn’t have any problems.

For more help go to http://codex.wordpress.org/Version_3.0

My favorite part so far of the upgrade is undoubtedly the upgrade section. Which makes all your upgrades happen in one place. Now if only my theme, and plugins would get their act together and upgrade!

Google TV is coming to a home near you, and personally I believe it will revolutionize the way we watch tv. Many times, I find myself wanting to show my spouse a video I had seen on YouTube, and am too lazy to pick up the laptop to show her. So, I just send her an e-mail that she never get’s to. There are so many good things Google has brought to the world, albeit there are also some complete bombs, but I believe that if the entry point is cost effective for more americans than apple’s iTV. Google’s TV, or GTV as I’m calling it, will make the worlds tv experience change.

Not sure if they would have been better off writing an app for a DVR, which would have been a large improvement to any DVR. But we’ll see how this plays out for an already withering Local Broadcast market share. Hopefully I still have a job after the launch. What do you think about GTV (Google TV) and where do you think the world of TV is going?

If you want to be tricked into watching old movies…. Netflix is the best choice for you. I don’t know why they have a section called new releases with movies like: Con-Air, Ghost, and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless mind. Great movies, but they shouldn’t be in the new release section of any brick and mortar movie rental place. Nonetheless, a modern, and “smart” movie rental business like netflix. Why would they subject you to a “recommended for you” section full of old ass movies. I guess it is cheaper for them to get you to rent an old movie than to have to buy extra new releases? It seems to me that Netflix is doing a huge dis-service to their clients.

With major revenues coming in from a great idea like online ship to your door movies. Why don’t they just start a side business that sells extra new movies cheaper? I guess they already have it, but they don’t market it… Maybe they can make up the cost of buying all the new DVD’s that they need with the sales of the older ones. Maybe push the idea that if you love the movie, you can take it off your queue and buy it for only $9.99? Of course they would have to cross refference the movies you’ve already watched to make it make sense, and work. But that shouldn’t be too hard for a multi-billion dollar company like netflix.

I truly hope that a competitor figures out this dis-service, and uses it against them. It would be great for them to know that people really only wish to watch new releases when they are browsing the new release section of your site. Really, what is miss congeniality doing in the new release section. It is at least 5 years old. Let me know if you think I’m wrong…… Oh yeah, so here is the trick. In the new releases section is a really crappy movie with a 3 star rating recommended for you, and you’ve never heard of it. The movie cover looks interesting. You click add to queue, and viola…. You are tricked into renting a crappy old movie that was a complete waste of Netflix’s and your time. WTF

As a local tv commercial producer, I get to see a lot of interesting groups/businesses. One that stands out in recent history is Housing America. They are a non-profit that helps people purchase homes in Somerton, and other rural areas. One of the great things I noticed about this place while going through the production process. Is that they teach you how to build your home. A group of 12 families get paired together, and build each home together on weekends. Contractors still come in and do the wiring, plumbing, AC, and other details like that. But, for the most part the group of twelve build their own neighborhood.

I think this is a grand idea in many ways. Especially in this day and age, when most people don’t know their neighbors at all. It brings together a group of strangers, and helps them work together for a year on a common goal. Now this might sound off-putting to some, but as you watch husbands, wives, children, cousins, and neighbors all come together as family to put together a neighborhood that they will all live in for 30 plus years. It is a touching image. Hard working families build themselves a place to call home, and once it is all done. They are all joined by this inspiring experience that unites the community.

I wouldn’t qualify for the program, but maybe someone you know does. I had never heard of this program before we shot their commercial. So, if you think you or your family might qualify for this great opportunity, send them to Housing America.

Your mom and I are currently in our 8th month with you, and are very anxious for your arrival. We have been working on getting a name for you that you will enjoy, and that can be said in English & Spanish. You know, just in case Mexico takes over the world, and because in a lesser extent it is part of your heritage… Anyways, for a long time I didn’t want to have kids. I always thought of myself as a solo act, and not much of a family man. Then I met your sister, Isabel, and she changed my mind. There is something exciting about being around someone who is amazed by everything. It gives me great hope, and happiness to be around Isabel full time. So in a way, I think you should thank your sister, no matter what your relationship is with her, for your being here. I know she is a handful at times, but I probably wouldn’t have had you at this time in my life without her being around.

I like to sit and wonder what you are going to become, how you are going to act. What you are going to accomplish, and I find myself overjoyed at the fact that you are around… Even if you still are inside your mom now. I see you on the monitor, I feel you as you kick, I hear you on the heartbeat monitor. Every time with excitement, and amazement. I can’t wait to teach you how to ride your bike, how to tie your shoes, to take you camping, or how to be a better man than I ever was. It feels weird saying that, but I want to be proud of who you are. I can’t wait to see you happy in life, and to follow your dreams.

With that said, I trust that no matter what happens within our family. I’ll always be here for you. I’ll always have an open ear, and an open mind. I know that you will probably be persuaded by your peers to do things that I don’t approve of, and I understand. I know that there are times in life where you make a mistake without knowing it is a mistake, and I hope to help you find a way to make it right. I’m not giving you permission to go completely crazy, but just know that I’ll stand by you any way I can. Even if we disagree. And that everyone always say’s at some point in their life, I wish I knew what I know now, when I was younger. I can’t help but love you even if it is just the idea of you for now, but I wait for you with open arms. An open mind, and an open heart.

With Love,

Your Father
