WestHost Sucks A$$
After using Bluehost for about two years now, I never knew how good it was. I’ve been helping out the YCFB with their website, which is hosted on westhost, and their back end control panel is from the 80′s. Their support is horrible, and their file manager is the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life.
UPDATE
As you can see by the comments below, I didn’t get anything resolved with Westhost, and their idiotic customer support. I since have sent another e-mail requesting the use of their new cPanel account. Now even though there is an upgrade to their new customers in the software that they use. Their customer support is horrid. I have never seen anything so bad, and would never refer anyone to their services.
So, use any other hosting service, bluehost has been good to me with support that I have counted on day or night. With chat that is quick, and easy. They also have easy to use GUI interfaces with Help Videos that answer almost any question you need answered. I have not used any other hosting service besides the two. If you find any host that is better, or if you have any advice on other host’s don’t be afraid to share.

You are right that our system needs updating. We have upgraded our control panel to cPanel and a new enviornment. This is available to all new clients that sign up. All current clients will be upgraded to the new system over the course of this next year if they want to.

I respect that your sales team is involved in customer service, but the last time I tried to contact you through chat, it had said that there was an 8hr wait time. What’s worse, when I called, your automated system wasn’t accepting any input from a touch tone phone. (I tried it on both a cell, and land line.) So, I couldn’t get a hold of anyone. When I sent an e-mail, the issue was slightly resolved, but there was no response from customer service to tell me that it was.
From a hosting provider that is charging more than their competitors, i.e. Bluehost, you sure don’t have your act together. I apologize for the rude language, but as you have read above. I could have had better customer service from Wal-Mart.

yumafoodbank.org will be upgraded during the course of this/next year. However, you can skip that by purchasing a new hosting plan and migrating your yumafoodbank.org content over to the new one, and then cancel your old one.
We appreciate your input and concern about not being able to get a hold of anybody. The magnitude of the situation was unfortunate and we wish that we could get to everybody at once, but that really wasn’t the case. We have definately learned from the situation and now have more backup plans in case things like this happen – such as having temporary accounts. It’s good to get the feedback to know how to better our services.

Why would a current customer go through that hassle? Your current customers are paying more than they should for sub par service, and software. Your current customers should get what they ask for after paying inflated prices for years. If I was going to purchase a new hosting account, I would rather just switch to a new host. One that actually cared about their customers enough to have someone, anyone their for support. Not that I want to talk to someone in India, but it would have been better than trying to talk to what you have now.

I hope problems with your Yuma installation were resolved. I happened to find your comment on a bad customer experience. I’ve been with WestHost for about 10 years now. So far, my personal experience with their customer service has really been the very best. I’ve always gotten cheerful, knowledgeable responsiveness and results.
I know this sounds like an ad. I have a very long memory for bad service and don’t forgive a grudge that easily. As I wrote this we are beginning a WH site move to a new data center, so I sure hope my good experience doesn’t change. Good luck to you!

I have had nothing but problems at westhost supporting my magento site. The shared environment is down about 50% of the time. What a joke….after 10 years with my other company I hosted at another host, did not realize how good they were. Westhost sucks so bad, my site is down more in the last month than in 10 years at another host. What a joke.
